Commissioned for the 2025 University of Michigan SMTD Queer Concert, I co-wrote this piece with my friend Marlena Boedigheimer. As we have very different compositional processes, it was a great exercise in collaboration. The piece is our response to experiences we have both had as lesbians, being toyed with by our straight peers. Whether it's straight men sexualizing us or expecting us to join in as they objectify other women, or straight women regarding us as predatory, spreading rumors about us, or knowingly playing with our emotions, we assert independance and dignity in our own lives and identities.
